I just saw your comment! I have two close friends like this: one in iran and one here in dorm. Before I finished reading your comment, I thought to myself that it is probably Cornell, and there you go. It's good to track it down, but one suggestion: if you ever want to compare yourself to someone, see if you can get closer to them and find new things about their life style and maybe childhood and stuff this way you can do a better comparison and at the end hopefully it boils down to the fact that if you think you are woking hard enough and you are not as good as someone else it's not you, but alot of other factors. I give an example of myself: I went to Narges for eight years, then to Farasat, which by the time I was there it wasn't as good as before. I basically never studied 9th grade in classroom (remember the old story I wrote) and just passed the exams. I attended 10th grade right in the middle, and 11th grade was the only normal high school yr for me. No pishdaneshgahi as well. So after two yrs in a community college here I am at Cornell, and believe me that I see smarter kids in my genetics classes everyday but at the same time I talked to them and they all went to great high schools, and thus have a much stronger background than me. I hope you get the point. I was kind of in the mode of comparing too but not any more because when I look back to my life I realize that I have used my positive energy in many areas that many people don't have to deal with it or don't choose to deal with it. I hope this could be of some help:)

I have not seen the movie Alexander. However, this is a very interesting article. I did not know that the Persians defeated the Romans several times. Iran has a fascinating history!
